Just Something About Autumn

Maybe it is the pleasant weather, the warm days and cool evenings. Maybe it is the clear blue skies over the colorful tree covered mountains. It could be the exhilarating feeling one gets by breathing the freshness of the morning air. Or, it may be the fall foliage, and knowing this fleeting annual display of Mother Nature won't last long. It may be even include a bit of melancholy, as we realize the autumn marks the end of another growing season, and winter is near. Often during this time of year, especially for many of the baby-boomers, talk may even go back to another time and place, when life was more directly tied to the land and the cycles of the natural world. Regardless of the origins of the sensations we experience, most everyone in Tennessee loves the autumn season. And, as the photographs reflect, there is no place more beautiful in autumn than Jasper Highlands on the Cumberland Plateau of southeast Tennessee.
