There has been a tremendous amount of work going on in the Parks and Trails department over the past few months! Much of that work has been happening behind the scenes and many folks aren’t even aware that it is taking place right under their noses.
On October 25th, shortly after sunrise, I embarked on a brief tour of a few of the trails and community areas at Jasper Highlands. In order to cover more ground, I hoped on my trusty bicycle and explored Huff ‘n Puff Bluff Trail from Pat’s Summit to Raulston Falls, then pedaled out to one of the newest and most spectacular additions to Jasper Highlands out on the farthest point on Sunset View.
The observation deck overlooking the valley is truly breathtaking! Milled from lumber found on the mountain, this new amenity brings together the natural beauty of the area with our effort to use and re-use the materials at our disposal up on the mountaintop.
From the observation deck, we’ll take the stairs down to the trail below and back towards Sunset View proper. Along the way, you will get a sneak peek at the soon-to-be completed camping cabin. Once finished, our residents will be able to visit the cabin day or night, and camp in this bunkhouse under the stars. To finish the parks and trails tour, I figured it was time for an update on Raulston Falls Park and Inspiration Park.
So much attention to detail has been paid to Raulston Falls Park over the past number of months, and it is truly looking finely polished. Promise to look past the ongoing construction at Inspiration Park and turn your focus to the recently completed swimming pool and Gazebodacious. Take some time to explore what will soon become one of the signature structures on the mountaintop the next time you have an opportunity.
The mountaintop looks as splendid as ever, and the parks and trails available to our residents have never looked finer. Now, go out and explore them! Stay tuned for more updates as the seasons unfold…
